Our IoT Heroes: Kirill Bushminkin - Engineer Cloud Components

As part of our engineering team, Kirill makes cloud components speaking different languages understand each other.

IoT Heroes Kirill

What were your main reasons and motivations to join us?

Before joining Azena, I worked in a small consultant company specializing in security. After a few years, I began looking for new professional challenges in a larger product-oriented company where I could leverage and extend my experience with security systems. Azena turned out to be the perfect match. On a side note, I love the mountains and was eager to move near the Alps. That's why Munich, where Azena's headquarters are located, was an interesting option.

What are the central values in your working environment?

Working at Azena is about getting the right things done and enjoying what you do. In an ultra-fast-moving technology market, there is neither the space nor the time for bureaucratic planning and operations that you might find in more traditional companies. At Azena, we all work together and in a very agile way toward a common vision. To this end, everyone can make their own individual contribution; every opinion counts and is valued. What drives each team is deep mutual trust, not competition or hierarchy. That's what makes Azena special.

What superhero power can you draw on when you need it?

Running big technologically complex products like Azena requires thoughtful and weighted decisions. However, there are situations that intuition and experience play an important role in taking the best decisions. If I have anything like a superpower, then it definitely is my ability to quickly identify challenges and problems and then jump in to solve them.

What are the most interesting topics you will work on here and what will be the hardest tasks to solve?

Bringing together hardware and software components from different manufacturers on a single platform so that they can communicate and exchange data with each other is an ongoing challenge. That is why we are continuously developing the Azena platform at a high pace. Of course, we are now working on major milestones, but unfortunately, they have to remain secret for the time being. The most challenging part is to move quickly while maintaining a stable and secure product so that customers can rely on us.

What do you see as the main trends in IoT in a business context and from your perspective as a Computer Vision Engineer?

IoT has come to stay. Along with AI, it will become AIoT as billions of smart devices around the world communicate with each other. Integration is always hard. A key challenge will be to enable hardware and software components from different manufacturers to communicate with each other, establish interoperability and overcome system boundaries. With the Azena platform for surveillance cameras, we are paving the way to a seamless AIoT that any business, regardless of size or industry, can deploy as easily as possible.

Kirill, thank you very much for the chat!
