Our IoT Heroes: Nicole Skrzydel - Trade Show & Event Manager
As part of our event marketing team, Nicole designs outstanding face-to-face events with clients and partners.

What were your main reasons and motivations to join us?
I like to build great things from scratch and watch them grow. When I joined Azena in late 2019, I got a great opportunity to help build the event marketing for our open IoT security camera platform from the ground. A product that is truly innovative and unique in the market is a feast for any marketer because it gives you plenty of room and content to develop your own ideas and put them into practice. This really appealed to me from the beginning and I couldn't wait to be part of this exciting journey. So here I am, helping a great product stand out from the crowd.
What are the central values in your working environment?
In Azena’s marketing team, but also throughout the entire company, we aim to be bold, trust each other and have fun at work. Bravely exploring new ideas, failing, and learning from mistakes is not only allowed but explicitly encouraged. Since everyone is an expert in their field, we combine creative forces as a team to ensure that we deliver the highest quality content to our audience. 1:1 communication is key in Azena's marketing, as with every chat and with every feedback we learn to improve our product. That's why I love working in event marketing.
Just as app stores for smartphones have successfully demonstrated, we are also bringing together stakeholders from different areas of video technology on an open IoT platform.
What superhero power can you draw on when you need it?
Managing large events with many internal and external stakeholders involved is often a challenge, especially when a great deal has to be realized in a very short time at a high quality. This requires staying cool at all times and maintaining a full overview. This is where my passion for project management and spontaneous creative solutions keeps me going. My main superhero power is the ability to make sure everything runs smoothly for everyone at the front end of an event, while firefighting in the background if necessary.
What are the most interesting topics you are currently working on here and what are the most difficult tasks to solve?
Our platform is growing fast and we want all our partners to be more involved and play an active role in product development and marketing. Through joint exhibitions, expert summits, and special events, we seek to increase the public presence and visibility of our security camera IoT platform for our customers. In this context, it is very important to adopt new approaches to virtual and hybrid event formats, which will certainly continue to play an important role in our marketing portfolio in the coming years.

What do you see as the main trends in IoT in a business context and from your perspective as Trade Show & Event Manager?
The platform approach is not new and already plays an important role in many digital businesses and industries. Just as app stores for smartphones have successfully demonstrated, we are also bringing together stakeholders from different areas of video technology, hardware, and software manufacturers, integrators, and users on an open IoT platform for security cameras. This is a win-win situation for all parties involved, manufacturers, integrators, and users get more out of the devices, and software developers fuel this trend with their smart apps.
Nicole, thank you very much for the chat!
